Going Mobile with Twenty Eleven

We have been working on a theme that will render in all browsers, using a custom twenty eleven theme.
Twenty Eleven is fluid and will collapse, the images auto resize as well, we have mixed this with some 1140 grid code, custom category and page colors, so it looks good on a mobile, and hidden the header on small devices, viewing it in a browser and resizing the screen you will see the effect, we want to make this website readable on a small device, mobile friendly and the content fluid.

Twenty Eleven Dark Child Theme

The recent release of WordPress 3.2 and the updated Twenty Eleven theme means that we need a slightly different approach to the child theme styles if we want to use the dark theme.

The new theme options for the dark theme are loaded after the child theme has loaded it’s stylesheet so some color changes will not work, to overcome this we will load a second stylesheet after the parent twenty eleven theme stylesheet and dark stylesheet have loaded.

WordPress 2011 Color Fun

We have been playing with the new twenty eleven theme from the WordPress version 3.2 release, navigating around the admin screen we found some of the nice new twenty eleven theme options.

There is an option to select a dark theme stylesheet as well as the standard, another option is to change all the link options site wide, this option injects styles into the head section as the theme loads, however we did not like the website title being a link, and we got thinking how it would be great to have a lot more control over the colors, so we created a nice little child theme and took control.
