Migration to WordPress 3 Quick Guide

To much information and still finding it a bit scary, lets us make it very easy, this quick guide is all the code changes except the styling, there are only three code block to do honest, first we need to find the header.jpg in the images folder, and write down the width and height, download the files below and lets get going.

You can download the theme migration files Here: Migrate Artisteer to WordPress 3 (1458)

To add the migration files to an existing theme copy the two files from the zip file to the themes main folder, while we are there we will create a folder inside the themes images folder called headers, so our folder files looks like this.

This is the text snippets, it will open in your browser so you can copy the text to your plan text editor : Migration Code Snippets (1403), or just copy the code below, use view source no not copy to clipboard and do not select and copy.

Select this block of text from the text file, open functions.php and paste this in a couple of lines from the text file after the <?php tag

/* Add these lines at the start of functions.php */
/* Digiatl Raindrops WordPress Version 3 Support */
if (file_exists(TEMPLATEPATH. '/custom-functions.php')) include_once(TEMPLATEPATH. '/custom-functions.php');

Open header.php and find this line

Replace the line of code with these lines from the text file

<!-- Allow Background Change -->
<body <?php body_class(); ?>>

Find this line of code

<div class="art-header-jpeg"><\div>

Replace the code with this block of code from the text file.

<!-- If you want header support then Replace the <div><\div> with this block -->
<!-- Start Digital Raindrops Migrate Artisteer to WordPress 3 -->
<div class="art-header">
 // Start Twenty Ten theme code - Check if this is a post or page, if it has a thumbnail, and if it's a big one
 if ( is_singular() &&
 has_post_thumbnail( $post->ID ) &&
 ( /* $src, $width, $height */ $image = wp_get_attachment_image_src( get_post_thumbnail_id( $post->ID ), 'post-thumbnail' ) ) &&
 $image[1] >= HEADER_IMAGE_WIDTH ) :
 // Houston, we have a new header image!
 echo get_the_post_thumbnail( $post->ID, 'post-thumbnail' );
 else : ?>
 <img src="<?php header_image(); ?>" width="<?php echo HEADER_IMAGE_WIDTH; ?>" height="<?php echo HEADER_IMAGE_HEIGHT; ?>" alt="" />
 <?php endif;
 // End Twenty Ten theme code - Check if this is a post or page, if it has a thumbnail, and if it's a big one
<!-- Start Digital Raindrops Migrate Artisteer to WordPress 3 -->

Now activate the header options set these options in the custom-functions.php, add the header width and height at this point.

'theme.changeHeader' => true, //Allow the header to be changed
'theme.selectHeader' => false, //Allow the header to be selected from list
'theme.thumbnailHeader' => false, //Select to use thumbnails for page and post headers
'theme.headerHeight' => 150, //Enter the header Height
'theme.headerWidth' => 980, //Enter the header Width
'theme.noTitleTextColor' => true, //Allow the title color to be changed
'theme.changeBackground' => true, //Allow the header to be changed

That should get us on the way, look at the admin section header and background options, upload a new header change the background, once we are happy we can upload some headers in the new folder and follow the other tutorials for the menus.
